Helen Carter

Helen Carter joined the Auxiliary in 1981 on the eligibility of her husband Bob, a US Army Vietnam veteran. She joined Auxiliary 1602 in Batavia, NY on the day she became eligible (her wedding day). After a job transfer took her and her family to North Carolina in 1984, she transferred to Auxiliary 10225 in Garner, NC, where she immediately became active.

Always an organized person and a good communicator, Helen gained the knowledge of the organization as she progressed through the Local, District and State chairs. These skills combined to make her an effective leader and motivator, recognized at all levels. A cheerful and approachable person, her advice is often sought by both VFW and Auxiliary members alike.

Helen and her husband have raised three children, and currently have six grandchildren. She has the full support of her family and her employer in this endeavor. North Carolina can think of no better candidate for the high honor of being a National officer in the Auxiliary.
