Who is the Ladies Auxiliary?

The Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) of the United States, was founded in 1914 to help veterans and their families. It is an integral part of the VFW's volunteer efforts. Promoting patriotism and helping veterans in need are just two of the many ways that the Auxiliary serves their Posts and America's communities. Learn about the accomplishments of the Ladies Auxiliary across the nation last year.

Eligibility to the Ladies Auxiliary is opened to wives, widows, mothers, foster and stepmothers (who have performed the duties of parent), grandmothers, daughters, granddaughters, foster and stepdaughters (who attained that status prior to the age of sixteen and for whom the duties of parent were performed), sisters, half sisters, foster and stepsisters (who attained that status prior to age sixteen) of persons who were or are eligible for membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. Members must be citizens of the United States and not less than sixteen years old.

Women eligible for membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States shall be eligible for dual membership in the Ladies Auxiliary.

Message from our President

Dillie Staton

As our 2007-08 year has just begun, I wish to thank all of you for the confidence you have shown to me as I progressed through the chairs to Department President. I will do my best to make it a year to remember. The Ladies Auxiliary and I plan to work closely with the VFW this year. I give my unwavering support to Department Commander Shelander and it is a privilege to serve as Department President with him.

I am looking forward to working with and visiting all seventeen Districts and the four VA Medical Centers early this year.

Congratulations to Past Department President Deborah Crowder for a job well done!

My special project for the 2007-08 year is the Victory Junction Gang. This is a camp for the special needs people who are unable to attend a regular camp. The Petty family founded this camp in memory of their son and grandson Adam Petty.

My theme is Never Stop Dreaming. Our dreams can never be too big to make things better for our Veterans and their families. My logo is a humming bird and an orchid.

Many, many thanks to all of the Auxiliaries who brought transmittals to the Department Convention to start this year's Membership kick-off. We can make it a 100% year if we start collecting dues early and work nonstop until we reach our goal. There are a lot of awards to be given this year in the Membership program. I know we all like to win awards, so here's your chance.

Please remember all our Sisters and Comrades who are ill, and also remember our men and women who are in harms way, protecting our freedom. Remember, freedom is not free! Someone pays the price for you and me.

Congratulations to all newly elected or appointed Officers and Chairmen.

Dillie
